Our Student Nutrition Staff ROCKS, and
Our Transportation Staff and Servers ROLL!
Based upon the Governor’s announcement today, July 23, EMSD will begin with a Distance Learning Program instead of the hybrid model previously recommended. We are all very disappointed to not begin with our students here on campus!
We will begin our Distance Learning Program on Monday, August 17th. More information to come!
We can do this, Bears!
The district's Parent Reentry Handbook has been mailed. Please watch for it. You will find details about the district's IMPROVED Distance Learning Model on page 31.

Back to School Update!
Based upon PED guidelines for social distancing, current student enrollment, and square footage of each classroom, the Estancia Municipal School Board of Education adopted a hybrid learning model for grades K-12 for the beginning of the 2020 - 2021 school year. Everyone has worked VERY HARD to meet the PED guidelines in such a way that elementary students could come every day. Unfortunately, with the variation in the sizes of classrooms, this was not possible for every grade level in light of the current social distancing requirement.
The hybrid schedule has students assigned to an A Day or B Day. They will come to school ever-other-day for instruction, and have homework for the day inbetween. Families will be kept together for A or B Day assignment. Fridays will be a non-school day for most students, with some students coming in for intervention, special education services, or credit recovery. Pre-K will come daily Monday - Thursday.
You will be receiving a printed Re-entry Handbook in the coming week via your mail, and the Handbook will be posted online providing you with all the details you need.
Unless things change with directions from the PED or Governor, school will begin as previously scheduled on August 17th. Please click on "District Calendar" for the 20-21 school calendar. An A/B calendar will be provided with the Re-entry Handbook.
As a note, face shields will be provided to every student whose parents prefer that over the recommended mask. As noted by the parent of a 4th and 6th grader, "We liked the face shields that the kids tried on today. I think they will be tolerated much better than a mask."
Please complete the online survey to the right NOW to let us know if you will coming to school, or wish to enroll in the district's Online Learning Academy.
Right now, you may not wish your child to return to school. If that is the case,
The district is offering a K-12 Online Learning Academy.
Using the K - 12 Edgenuity Online Learning system, students will complete their grade level curriculum from home.
This virtual program is standards aligned, includes teacher support by an Estancia Schools teacher, and will provide for a smooth re-entry into our school setting at semester! You may register by completing the online survey.
In accordance with 34 CFR 300.624 and NMAC 18.104.22.168, Estancia Municipal School District is planning a Special Education records purge for all students receiving special education services who graduated or left the district on or before the year of 2014. These records are no longer needed by the District to provide special education services, but may be needed by former students for social security benefits or other purposes. If you were a special education student or a guardian, and are interested in obtaining these records please call (505) 384-2001, x2601 to pick up your records. Records will be purged 30 days from the date of this notice.
